A hidden gem in the heart of Phoenix, Cleo & Clementine has silently risen from an online platform to a full-fledged production, servicing potential clients near and far who flock towards the beautifully unconventional.
Monique Sandoval, Cleo and Clementine dressmaker & all around #girlboss, adopted the art of design in her adolescent years by altering and modifying personal garments for a more fitted & pristine appearance. As she began to receive attention for her tailoring talents it was then that she understood the power of a perfect fit, which reflects in her dressmaking today. By building upon her self-taught knowledge of design, whilst integrating an intriguing balance of ethereal and edgy style, Cleo & Clementine emerged in 2008 as an online Etsy store.
With over 36 thousand admirers and nearly 2000+ bridal clients serviced, Cleo and Clementine earned their five-star reputation by breaking the boundaries of conventional special-occasion wear by taking risks via fabrics, daring details & color integration. In 2009 Cleo and Clementine introduced blush into the wedding gown which quickly became highly sought after. It wasn’t long before blush wedding gowns trickled through the fashion industry rapidly turning heads and appearing in magazines and bridal runways all over the world. A clear front-runner in setting industry trends, Cleo and Clementine continued to build upon their imaginative and unique methods in an effort to grow and move forward.
Quickly outgrowing their online home, Cleo and Clementine took residence in a quaint brick and mortar storefront in Melrose District, Phoenix but continued to keep their online store up and running. With all the hustle and bustle of retail adding to the entertainment of everyday life it was a short lived 5-year project but proved to be very valuable. During this time Monique interacted with clients face-to-face and familiarized herself with the desires and needs of her market. Placing a strong emphasis on customer service Cleo and Clementine set themselves apart from commercial competitors by working individually with potential customers taking them through each meticulous step of the creative process. In turn, allowing clients the ability to see their vision evolve from the first sketch to the very last pin. By carefully observing customer expressions and mannerisms towards particular styles, cuts, and colors she was able to master what her customers gravitate towards.
With a newfound knowledge acquired, Cleo and Clementine returned to Monique’s personal studio to focus on what the brand is best known for; designing one-of-a-kind dresses. It is here where you will find Monique blissfully working away amidst beautiful European fabrics and lace ready to be turned into ethereal masterpieces. All whilst balancing a family focused quality of life in hopes of expanding her brand to local specialty boutiques in the near future.
